PATRIOT FREEDOM OPPOSED TO CHANGING THE:
Jim Kelly 02/06/2010
 Don't Ask, Don't Tell--Don't Bother! Policy
Despite all of the hot issues on Capitol Hill, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" somehow shoved its way to the front of the line, generating two hearings faster than most Democrats can say "judicial nominees."Former Marine commandant Gen. Carl E. Mundy and 1,160 of his retired flag and general officer colleagues have spoken forcibly against it, while plenty of conservatives sit in the shadows, afraid to take a position. Other groups may be skittish to take on this issue. FRC & PATRIOT FREEDOM at www.patriotfreedom.org is not. Every day, American soldiers take fire for us. This is our turn to stand on the front lines for them.
Representatives like Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) were adamant. "The military is not civilian life," he said. Its rules don't exist to satisfy the Left's notion of "equality" or "freedom of expression." In the heat of battle, political correctness isn't a recipe for success--it's an obstruction to it.

Thousands of vets could get benefits upgrade

Published - Jan 25 2010 07:11AM EST

By KIMBERLY HEFLING - Associated Press Writer

 WASHINGTON— The military has agreed to expedite a review the records of thousands of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans discharged with post-traumatic stress disorder to determine whether they were improperly denied benefits.
The agreement stems from a judge's order in a class action lawsuit originally filed by seven combat veterans who alleged the military illegally denied benefits to those discharged because of the disorder during a six-year period that ended Oct. 14, 2008.
Legal notices are currently being mailed to about 4,300 veterans informing them that they can "opt-in" to the lawsuit until July 24 to participate in the expedited review. Attorneys for the veterans estimate that millions could be paid to veterans under the agreement, with some veterans receiving hundreds or more dollars in increased monthly benefits.
The National Veterans Legal Services Program was to discuss the suit at a press conference Monday.
Former Army Sgt. Juan Perez, 36, of Owosso, Mich., said the resolution of the suit filed in 2008 in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims was a relief. Perez, a father of five who did two tours in Iraq, said he struggles with migraine headaches and an eye injury related to a head injury sustained in Baghdad. He also has nightmares and takes medication for his mood related to PTSD.
Since he left the military, he said he and his wife were laid off from their jobs and declared bankruptcy, in part because of medical bills from the birth of his two youngest kids.
"I'm glad that they are finally moving forward and reevaluating the soldiers that need to be reevaluated and doing the right thing," Perez said. "It's been kind of a struggle not only for myself but a lot of individuals that didn't get what they were supposed to get in the first place."
PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can develop after a terrifying event where the person was physically harmed or felt threatened. Symptoms range from flashbacks to problem drinking.
The lawsuit addresses the issue of the disability rating given by the military to veterans discharged with PTSD. Each of the seven plaintiffs was given a rating of 10 percent or less.
The law requires the military to assign a disability rating of at least 50 percent to those discharged for PTSD, said Bart Stichman, co-executive director the National Veterans Legal Services Program, a nonprofit organization that represents the veterans. Since October 2008, the military has given the 50 percent rating to those discharged with PTSD, Stichman said.
The higher rating ensures that the veteran receives lifelong monthly disability payments, free health care for the veteran and the veteran's spouse, as well as health care for the veteran's minor children.
If a veteran qualifies for a higher disability rating, they may receive back pay as well as reimbursement for health care expenses.
To help the affected veterans, the National Veterans Legal Services Program and Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP law firm have coordinated about 100 volunteer lawyers to offer free counseling.

Now if they'd only expedite we Vietnam Vet appeals. :)

To all Veterans and Active Duty Military
This may be very real!
Watch what you say!!!
SENT TO ME AND MAKES SENSE KNOWING THE DIPSHIT RUNNING HOMELAND SECURITY
This one is for you Veterans.
I have heard of this before, and I thought it was important enough to pass along here.
"I had a doctor appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found something very interesting I would like to pass along.  While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions.
1. Did I feel stressed?
2. Did I feel threatened?
3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?
The nurse then informed me, if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.
I am a Viet Nam vet and 15 year concealed carry permit holder.  “Looks like they are now going after the Veterans."

Be forewarned and be aware.
The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners as potential terrorists.
If you are a veteran, you've been warned.
If you know veterans, please pass this on to them.

This is how General George S. Patton would sum things up .... and then catch holy hell from Ike.

He sure had a unique way of expressing his thoughts.

ATTENTION!

To ALL those whining, panty-waisted, pathetic Citizens, it's time for a little refresher course on exactly why we Americans occasionally have to fight wars to keep this nation great.

See if you can tear yourself away from your "reality" TV and Starbucks for a minute, pull your head out of your ass -- and LISTEN UP!!

Abu Ghraib is not "torture" or an "atrocity." This is the kind of thing frat boys, sorority girls, and academy cadets do every year. A little fun at someone else's expense.

Certainly no reason to wring your hands or get your panties in a wad.

Got that ?

THIS IS an atrocity!

So Was This!!!

And this!

Islam a peaceful religion? My Ass! Millions of these warped misled sons-of-bitches are plotting, as we speak, to destroy our country and our way of life any way they can. Some of them are here among us now.

They don't want to convert you and don't want to rule you. They believe you are a vile infestation of Allah's paradise. They don't give a shit how "progressive" you are, how peace-loving you are, or how much you sympathize with their cause.

They want your ass dead, and they think it is God's will for them to do it.

Some think if we give them a hug or listen to them, then they'll like us, and if you agree -
Then you are a pathetic dumb ass!

If they manage to get their hands on a nuke, chemical agents, or even some anthrax -- you will wish to God we had hunted them down and killed THEM while we had the chance.

How many more Americans must be beheaded? You've fallen asleep AGAIN - get your head out of your ass! You may never get another chance!

NOW GET OFF YOUR SORRY ASS and pass this on to any and every person you give a damn about - if you ever gave a damn about anything!

DISMISSED!

       Friday Mornings at the Pentagon

                               By JOSEPH L. GALLOWAY
                                   McClatchy Newspapers
 Over the last 12 months, 1,042 soldiers, Marines, sailors and Air Force personnel have given their lives in the terrible duty that is war.  Thousands more have come home on stretchers, horribly wounded and facing months or years in military hospitals.

 This week, I'm turning my space over to a good friend and former roommate, Army Lt. Col. Robert Bateman, who recently completed a yearlong tour of duty in Iraq and is now back at the Pentagon.

 Here's Lt. Col. Bateman's account of a little-known ceremony that fills the halls of the Army corridor of the Pentagon with cheers, applause and many tears every Friday morning.  It first appeared on May 17 on the Weblog of media critic and pundit Eric Alterman at the Media Matters for America Website.

 "It is 110 yards from the "E" ring to the "A" ring of the Pentagon. This section of the Pentagon is newly renovated; the floors shine, the hallway is broad, and the lighting is bright.  At this instant the entire length of the corridor is packed with officers, a few sergeants and some civilians, all crammed tightly three and four deep against the walls.  There are thousands here.

 This hallway, more than any other, is the `Army' hallway.  The G3 offices line one side, G2 the other, G8 is around the corner.  All Army.  Moderate conversations flow in a low buzz.  Friends who may not have seen each other for a few weeks, or a few years, spot each other, cross the way and renew.

 Everyone shifts to ensure an open path remains down the center.  The air conditioning system was not designed for this press of bodies in this area.

 The temperature is rising already.  Nobody cares.  "10:36 hours: The clapping starts at the E-Ring.  That is the outermost of the five rings of the Pentagon and it is closest to the entrance to the building.  This clapping is low, sustained, hearty.  It is applause with a deep emotion behind it as it moves forward in a wave down the length of the hallway.

 "A steady rolling wave of sound it is, moving at the pace of the soldier in the wheelchair who marks the forward edge with his presence.  He is the first. He is missing the greater part of one leg, and some of his wounds are still suppurating.  By his age I expect that he is a private, or perhaps a private first class.

 "Captains, majors, lieutenant colonels and colonels meet his gaze and nod as they applaud, soldier to soldier.  Three years ago when I described one of these events, those lining the hallways were somewhat different.  The applause a little wilder, perhaps in private guilt for not having shared in the burden ... yet.

 "Now almost everyone lining the hallway is, like the man in the wheelchair, also a combat veteran.  This steadies the applause, but I think deepens the sentiment.  We have all been there now.  The soldier's chair is pushed by, I believe, a full colonel.

 "Behind him, and stretching the length from Rings E to A, come more of his peers, each private, corporal, or sergeant assisted as need be by a field grade officer.

 "11:00 hours: Twenty-four minutes of steady applause.  My hands hurt, and I laugh to myself at how stupid that sounds in my own head.  My hands hurt.  Please!  Shut up and clap.  For twenty-four minutes, soldier after soldier has come down this hallway - 20, 25, 30...  Fifty-three legs come with them, and perhaps only 52 hands or arms, but down this hall came 30 solid hearts.

 They pass down this corridor of officers and applause, and then meet for a private lunch, at which they are the guests of honor, hosted by the generals. Some are wheeled along..  Some insist upon getting out of their chairs, to march as best they can with their chin held up, down this hallway, through this most unique audience.  Some are catching handshakes and smiling like a politician at a Fourth of July parade.  More than a couple of them seem amazed and are smiling shyly.

 "There are families with them as well: the 18-year-old war-bride pushing her 19-year-old husband's wheelchair and not quite understanding why her husband is so affected by this, the boy she grew up with, now a man, who had never shed a tear is crying; the older immigrant Latino parents who have, perhaps more than their wounded mid-20s son, an appreciation for the emotion given on their son's behalf.  No man in that hallway, walking or clapping, is ashamed by the silent tears on more than a few cheeks.  An Airborne Ranger wipes his eyes only to better see.  A couple of the officers in this crowd have themselves been a part of this parade in the past.

 These are our men, broken in body they may be, but they are our brothers, and we welcome them home.   This parade has gone on, every single Friday, all year long, for more than four years.
 "Did you know that?

 The media haven't yet told the story."

Who Deserves a big memorial service and Top Headlines?

This will get ya!  Read to the end…
We’re hearing a lot today about big splashy memorial services.
I want a nationwide memorial service for Darrell "Shifty" Powers.
clip_image001
Shifty volunteered for the airborne in WWII and served with Easy
Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101st
Airborne Infantry. If you’ve seen Band of Brothers on HBO or the
History Channel, you know Shifty. His character appears in all 10
Episodes, and Shifty himself is interviewed in several of them.
clip_image002
I met Shifty in the Philadelphia airport several years ago. I didn’t
Know who he was at the time. I just saw an elderly gentleman having trouble reading his ticket. I offered to help, assured him that he was at the right gate, and noticed the "Screaming Eagle," the symbol of the 101st Airborne, on his hat.
Making conversation, I asked him if he’d been in the 101st Airborne or if his son was serving. He said quietly that he had been in the 101st. I thanked him for his service, then asked him when he served, and how many jumps he made.
Quietly and humbly, he said "Well, I guess I signed up in 1941 or so, and was in until sometime in 1945 .. . . " at which point my heart skipped.
At that point, again, very humbly, he said "I made the 5 training
Jumps at Toccoa, and then jumped into Normandy . . . . Do you know where Normandy is?" At this point my heart stopped.
I told him "yes, I know exactly where Normandy is, and I know what D-Day was." At that point he said "I also made a second jump into Holland, into Arnhem ." I was standing with a genuine war hero . . . .
And then I realized that it was June, just after the anniversary of
D-Day..

I asked Shifty if he was on his way back from France, and he said "Yes. And it’s real sad because, these days, so few of the guys are left, and those that are, lots of them can’t make the trip." My heart was in my throat and I didn’t know what to say.

I helped Shifty get onto the plane and then realized he was back in Coach while I was in First Class. I sent the flight attendant back to get him and said that I wanted to switch seats. When Shifty came forward, I got up out of the seat and told him I wanted him to have it, that I’d take his in coach.

He said "No, son, you enjoy that seat. Just knowing that there are
Still some who remember what we did and who still care is enough to make an old man very happy." His eyes were filling up as he said it. And mine are brimming up now as I write this.

Shifty died on June 17, 2009 after fighting cancer.
clip_image003

There was no parade.
No big event in Staples Center .
No wall to wall back to back 24×7 news coverage.
No weeping fans on television.
And that’s not right.

Let’s give Shifty his own Memorial Service, online, in our own quiet way. Please forward this to everyone you know. Especially to the veterans.

Rest in peace, Shifty.

Chuck Yeager, MajGen. [ret.]

    Ammo shortage linked to fear of Obama and Democrats, say gun owners...Ammunition manufacturers report their factories are producing ammunition at record rates and keeping their facilities operating 24/7.  Yet they still cannot keep up with the demand for bullets for everything from handguns to hunting rifles. READ STORY >>>HERE

    Behind the scenes, at many military bases across the country and around the world, a not-too quiet challenge is developing against Barack Obama
    and his questionable qualifications to be President of the United States .
    Most FReepers are familiar with the ongoing civil litigation against Obama.
    Plaintiffs claim he is not constitutionally qualified to be president because he does not meet the legal
    description of a “natural-born citizen.”
    Obama’s lawyers have never entered pleadings on the MERITS of the plaintiffs’ cases.
    They oppose the plaintiffs’ suits on the issue of “standing.”
    They claim the plaintiff’s do not have a right to sue.
    Generally, that “standing” claim is well-founded.
    Giving every citizen the right to sue the president would be a nightmare.

    Can you imagine George Bush defending 10,000,000 individual suits by Dems over the war in Iraq ?

    But recently, one plaintiff had a strong chance of being given “standing to sue.”

    The plaintiff was an Army Reserve Major, Stefan Frederick Cook, from the Tampa area.
    His call-up to active duty positioned him as a person who could demonstrate the likelihood of real
    damages if Obama was not a legally-elected president.
    Cook could be killed, wounded or even charged as a war criminal if Obama was not legally the president.
    He sued, claiming Obama was not legally qualified to be President, not legally qualified to order him to do anything.
    The judge was set to begin preliminary hearings when the government lawyers dropped a legal bomb.
    They canceled Major Cook’s orders for the obvious purpose of denying him standing.
    With Major Cook no longer on activation orders, the case was moot and was dismissed by the judge.
    This hugely significant legal surrender by the government was noticed by every lawyer in the country watching this issue.
    It also immediately became an enormous topic of conversation in every barracks in America .
    If Obama was willing to cancel one soldier’s deployment orders because of a court challenge to his right to be president, what would he do the next time someone raised the issue?
    As a result, service members and lawyers began action immediately.
    It is believed that as many as 100 lawyers are preparing to file litigation such as Major Cook’s.
    This litigation would be in many courts across the country and put a huge strain on t h e Obama-DNC legal team.
    Do they cancel 100 sets of orders this week, only to face 1000 suits next week?

    Even worse, sources close to some of the potential litigants tell me that at least four lawyers,
    including one very well known conservative Vietnam veteran-lawyer, are seeking enough clients
    so they can petition the court for the establishment of a Class of Plaintiffs in a proposed class action case.
    If that happens, then every military service member on orders for SWA would be covered.
    At that point, Obama has no viable legal option.
    He has proven himself unwilling to try the case on its merits, and willing to cancel orders to avoid having to face discovery.

    How can he be POTUS and CINC if he cannot issue orders to the military he claims to command?

    From there, every time Obama tries to act under color of law in any matter, military of not, someone sues and Obama’s action ceases.
    This is an important turning point in a case of incredible constitutional and legal significance.

    Stay tuned!

       At a time when our president Obama and other politicians tend to apologize for our country`s prior actions
    here`s a refresher on how some of our former Patriots handled negative comments about our country.
      These are good

    JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when DeGaule decided to pull out of NATO.
    DeGaule said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.
    Rusk responded "does that include those who are buried here?
    DeGuale did not respond.

    You could have heard a pin drop

    When in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked
    by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.
    He answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders.
    The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.'

    You could have heard a pin drop.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part,
    including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying
    'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims.
    What does he intended to do, bomb them?'
    A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people;
    they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities;
    they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day,
    they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day,
    and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck.
    We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?'
     You could have heard a pin drop.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian, and French Navies.
    At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers
    that included personnel from most of those countries. Eveyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks
    but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English.
    He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?'
    Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, '
    Maybe it's because the Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German.'

    You could have heard a pin drop.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...
    Robert Whiting , an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.
    At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.
    "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked  sarcastically.
    Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.
    "Then you should know enough to have your passport ready."
    The American said, 'The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."
    "Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France !"
    The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard  look.  Then he quietly explained,
    ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country,
    I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to."
    You could have heard a pin drop.
    TO OUR FALLEN SOLDIERS, AND THEIR FAMILIES
    "From Bunker Hill to the walls of the Alamo, from the farm fields at Gettysburg to the beaches at Normandy and Iwo Jima, from the Afghanistan mountains to every other piece of hallowed ground where Americans have fought and died in freedom's name, Old Glory still proudly dances in the wind of freedom. In paying the ultimate sacrifice, American warriors ensured that not only would America continue to be free but that America would continue to be a beacon of freedom so intense that it no threat of oppression can extinguish it. So long as Old Glory flutters in the wind, there is hope. So long as American warriors are willing to carry Old Glory into battle, freedom's flame will never be extinguished. Our enemies can knock sometimes down our buildings, but mortar, brick and steel does not America make. It is the irrepressible spirit and undying love of freedom that is uniquely America and it is the American warrior who is willing to fight and die to protect the God-given freedoms and rights of all people. On this Memorial Day, I encourage each of you to spend a few moments and quietly offer a prayer of thanks to those who paid for your freedom with their lives. If you have the chance, take your children and walk quietly and reverently through a military cemetery. Stop at each white cross. Read the names carefully on the tombstones. These are the names of freedom. Look up at Old Glory as she dances in the breeze. Surely you will agree there is no more solemn and beautiful sight than to see our sacred stars and stripes fluttering quietly in the breeze above a military cemetery. It is our duty as parents and citizens to ensure that our children and grandchildren know that freedom is not free, that it is paid for with the blood and lives of warriors. Do not shirk this responsibility. It is one of the most important lessons you can ever impart to your children. To quote President Reagan: 'We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so that we may always be free.' Memorial Day is the most important American holiday. May God eternally bless the American warrior -- the protector of freedom and liberty." --musician and columnist Ted Nugent
